"In all of my paintings there is a strong concern with light and the way in which it reveals the volume of a form and the space around it. I see my paintings as images of transformation. The objects I use are taken from my immediate surroundings and are usually humble everyday objects. But such mundane objects become imbued through the process of painting with the nuances of thought and meaning which are at once universal and mysterious."
