A graduate of the Edinburgh College of Arts, Trevor Stubley has long considered himself to belong to the Scottish School of painting. Although a Yorkshireman by birth and domicile, he glories in the use of vibrant colour and richly textured paint so like many of his Scottish counterparts.
The subject matter of his paintings has always been esoteric, ranging across a number of themes which seem to seamlessly melt one into the other as they develop. In recent years, his work has featured Morris Danders, the Centaur, the Hobby Horse and images from Irish folklore as related by Sean O'Connell, the great Kerry storyteller.
Now retired from painting, Trevor supports and mentors his sculptor son, Adam.
